Great article. I am in love with Kenya and spend a good portion of my year there. I’m currently in Nairobi. Definitely going to check out a couple of your shopping links which are new to me.
Uhuru park is a must in good weather – hundreds of Kenyans relaxing in the shade of the trees, music, a bit of street food, trinket vendors, and rather pretty too!

Funny article. I live in Nairobi and never have considered it a luxury destination, although I do consider Kenya one for the people who come on Safari, but they generally avoid Nairobi. I liked your article though. I think there are pockets of luxury increasingly popping up for the privileged. I would encourage travelers to also go see the CBD, Uhuru Park, and do a guided tour of Kibera to understand the grit and hustle of the city as well.

We fell in love with Africa last year when we visited South Africa and Zambia on safari. We could happily return to the continent and visit Kenya next :-).
