Hey Dorene,

Thanks for telling me! Yes, someone else had mentioned and it’s because I am updating my site’s theme. It should be fixed today or tomorrow :)

Error message is: Fatal error: Call to undefined function fusion_get_option() in /home/hippiein/public_html/wp-content/plugins/fusion-builder/shortcodes/fusion-container.php on line 299

Want to make sure you are aware – would love to read more.

I have been following your blog for a year n I really enjoy reading it. M planning to visit Goa in November with my girl gang. Can you help us with few good stay options in North Goa (mostly near Anjuna and Vagator). Keen to explore this side of Goa this time. Budget hotels would be good.

Thanks
Love ya

Well you most likely will go through Haridwar to get to Rishikesh so you can scope it out and always come back if Rishikesh doesn’t suit you – they are very near.

My husband is a former yoga instructor which is why I was looking at Rishikesh but have read that it’s become overwhelmingly touristy. Your advice is super appreciated. Thanks so much!

I have read that trains get booked up quickly in India and I am wondering how far in advance should I be booking my train tickets? Also, the e-visa is only good for 30 days..what happens if you over stay your visa? And can you extend your visa once in India? Everything I have read says no about the visa stuff… but I figured maybe you know something everyone else doesn’t. Thanks so much for your help!

You can wear high heels, but the roads are not very even and you might not like it unless you are taking a car straight to the office – they might get dirty. I am not too familiar with new delhi so not sure there – and for a loose t shirt no you dont need a scarf

That really helps!! it is ok to wear high heels? If i wear the dress pants and blouse can i wear high heels with that? If the blouse is not buttoned up till my neck, then a scarf for work?

I will be travelling to New delhi and wondering what are the safest and nicest places to stay if you are a woman alone, but also not too expensive?

and casually, a loose t-shirt, but then always a scarf with it? Its pretty hot i think so im just checking :)

First off I must say I really enjoy reading your blog – especially now when it’s less than 1 month until I go back to Goa on a one way ticket! One thing I’m curious about as you are an expat in India is your visa. From what I’ve understood american citizens can receive a 10 year visa (lucky you – not so lucky Swedish me!) but how does that work with working (taking customers for thai massage for example)? Mainly I’m just curious but also think maybe you have some helpful tips and tricks for someone who wants to live in India (south Goa mainly) most part of the year.

All the best and keep up the beautiful blogging xx
Signe

Hi Rachel, yes there will be a lot in some areas. For the most part if you ignore them they ignore you. If you say “come here” in a sweet voice and pet them, they often love it. But if you seem scared or mean, they might be the same. It’s very rare to hear of a bite here in Goa. In Kerala sadly they are killing dogs all the time, so you hear of it less and less there too. I would say if it’s your biggest worry, you’re going to do just fine in India! :)

I regularly read your blog, and it is currently a major asset in helping my friend and I with our India trip in January.. from my south east asia travels I was made nervous and pretty scared there by the stray dogs, and how easily they come up to you, and know this will be worse in India…any advice?? they are the main thing I am worried about with my trip..

thanks

Hi, In September I would imagine Arambol will be empty still. I was there yesterday and saw about 10 tourists all together.

I’m doing a road trip starting 09th Sept from Pune -Hampi – Gokarna – Karwar – Anjuna – Arambol.

I’m a regular to Goa but it’ll be my first time to Hampi-Gokarna & Karwar.. Just curious if you have any tips for me on the places I should check out at these locations.
Also would you know if the drum circles @ Arambol would be ON in September?

Looking forward to your response.

Appreciate your help :)
Peace

Hi Bobby. I don’t think many courses will be offered in the monsoon. Most teachers go up to Manali. Ayurveda classes are actually more prevalent in Kerala state. I would find something and verify it’s open before coming. Also, the monsoon makes the ocean very dangerous and no one swims in it (even the guys who are good surfers) so keep that in mind for your boys. Have fun!

I loved your post about the monsoon season being awesome! I have been wanting to take my two sons (9&11) and my mom for a couple of months to study ayurveda. Do you think any of those programs will still be offered? I’d need a spot near the beach for my boys to play while I studied. Does this sound crazy? I think my boys would love monsoon weather! Your life is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
