Really enjoyed reading your blog. I’m doing a couples weeks solo trip (starting this weekend). First week will be in the north & then heading to Candolim for the second – any advice for exploring Goa?

Came across your blog while finding tips for traveling in India. I am a fresh graduate from Philippines and planning to have my one-week solo-backpacking on 2016. And also to visit my boyfriend who’s going to study their next year. Your blog is so helpful and I love it so much. Also the way you write, I really love it. For you, what are the best months to visit India? I plan to stay in Hyderabad/Kochi/Pune. Thank you! Happy travels to you and Ben :)

Quite late with my comment, but I am backpacking (to be more precise flashbacking) with my boyfriend through India. We don’t stay in the most cheapest places but also not in the most expensive ones. If you don’t go to hostels and rather stay in cheap guest houses it should be fine. I also have my macbook with me and we have lots of technical gear as well. Nothing happened. What we always do in trains, is we chain our backpacks to the seats and lock each pocket with an own locker. Also, I used my little backpack with the macbook and camera gear as a pillow while sleeping. Also lots of locals have asked us where we stay. If you just met these people, tell them ‘over there’ and show in a direction but don’t tell the name of the hotel/guest house.

Just wanted to say thank you for this – it’s rare to find a list that includes beauty products! And I also loved the little descriptions under each product. :)

Hey TJ, I’m not even sure… I never paid attention to any except my mac which doesn’t need a converter, I guess the box on the charger is a surge protector. But I think some things like a curling iron or hair dryer do, so I figure better safe than sorry.

I purchased the conair adapter/converter. Thought people should know in advance, since I didn’t, many chargers are dual voltage(100-240V). All mine are, I could have saved some money and weight if I had bothered to look at my chargers. And too lazy to return it and buy a new one. At least the surge protection will be used. Do you convert power for your dual voltage appliances?
Thanks,
TJ

so true, I like to have the alarm as well in case my phone dies

It’ll automatically adjust to the right timezone, plus the alarm volume can be set much louder (I’ve slept through the Casio’s alarm). And if the phone is on your person the vibration will be extra assurance that you do indeed wake up.
