Hocking Hills is so full of things to do, so it was really hard to pick our next activity. Horseback riding and eating enough bologna for 4 people had made me pretty tired! If you haven’t, check out Glamping in Hocking Hills Part 1 to read about Happy Trails & also the amazing luxury digs of Glenlaurel Inn, as well as a little bit about Hocking Hills in general.

Craft Time in Hocking Hills

I freaking LOVE crafts and this area is packed full of them. As a candle maker by profession (lol), candle making at the Candle Shop was the clear choice for us! Much different from my old school stove top, beating wax down with sledge hammers, and double pour system, this place had a little wax crock pot with a spout that poured hot wax in to your candle with ease. Dammit. Everything is easier in America! The wax was also ideal, soy wax that can double as lotion. My wax is paraffin and I’m pretty sure you’ll get sick if you rub it all over your body, ha ha.

This is such a better way of making candles than my way… We both went for Hawaiian scents and I made a “Maui” candle with Awapuhi, Pineapple, and Lei. Mom went for Coconut, Pineapple, and Awapuhi. Hers was better, her crafts always turn out better. You get to decorate your labels, and the whole thing is just perfect. The shop is super cute and on the way out I bought a lemon cake candle made in Amish Country that I have burning here now in India (it always makes Ben hungry).

Location: 29205 Ilesboro Road, Logan, Ohio, 43138 and call them at 877.385.9537. Prices for candle making at the same as buying them off the shelf! Candles start at $15 but there is a discount for multiple candles.

Inn and Spa at Cedar Falls

Since this is a glamping trip, why not have another massage? We headed off to the famous spa located at the Inn and Spa at Cedar Falls for even more pampering than we had at Glenlaurel. We both got hour massages, mom getting an upper back and hand massage (random combo but pretty cool and she loved it) and I got a bamboo massage (in Ohio even though I have traveled SE Asia where it originates, go figure).

The massages were SO good. I chose the bamboo because it was hot bamboo, and I love hot stone massages. It wasn’t quite the same, but the bamboo sticks are short (maybe 5 inches) and it did feel really cool. The strokes were kind of like lomi lomi in Hawaii where they use their forearm. That’s my favorite type of massage, so it was great.

We stayed in the redbud cabin which was actually the biggest on the property. The property is so big that you have to drive to and from your cabin and the diner/lobby. They grow their own veggies and herbs up on a rooftop, pictured below. Rooms start at $168, then there are cottages, and on the higher end cabins which start at $269 per night but seeing as though they can fit at least 4 people, it’s a great rate for this area. One of the cabins is even dog friendly!

The decorations were cute, it was clean, cozy, and the kitchen was fully stocked with equipment and was adorable. I loved that there were bookcases and board games as well! The bedding was great with a really soft bed and satin sheets- I got in bed at 8 PM to read and fell asleep until 10 AM the next day.

Although there’s a kitchen and a back porch with a grill (and you can bring your own food onto the property), the food in the restaurant was great and unless you’re trying to save money, it’s so nice to just eat there. We had pork belly mac n cheese, chicken with orzo, wild mushoom ravioli, and lastly a raspberry cheesecake. I definitely didn’t need cheesecake, but knew you guys would want a picture, so ate it just for research purposes… you’re welcome.

Overall, our girls’ trip to Hocking Hills was a smashing success & I loved seeing it from a different perspective than just hiking and being outdoorsy. We had a full weekend of adventure, and actually only did a 15 minute hike. There were so many other options. If you haven’t been to Hocking Hills as we have, then you should totally make room for exploration of the caves and gorges and not just have a girly weekend like ours. So, realistically it’s best to go about 4 days if you want to see the girly side and outdoorsy side.

This trip was in partnership with the Hocking Hills Tourism Board & Ohio Tourism Board, but no matter who pays, opinions are my own!
