I miss a lot back home living in India and this year I missed my mom’s birthday and mothers day… actually I think I’ve missed them (in person) for a few years, so I wanted to plan something for us to do when I was home. We went shopping at Easton, to the Spa at River Ridge, and dinner at Mezzo.

Mother Daughter Day in Dublin, Ohio

Easton is this huge outdoor mall just outside Columbus off 270. It’s about an house from my house so we always went just a few times a year. They have all of my favorite stores: Free People, Apple (I got my new Mac!), Anthropologie, LUSH, Victorias Secret, Bath & Body for candles, and shoes at Macy’s and Aldos. My mom and I both are shopaholics but we’ve gotten much better and didn’t go too crazy, except at Sephora. I think there’s a ratio of every 5 minutes you stay in the store, you spend $40. I always justify it because I need to stock up for a year and I haven’t seen any of the new products. My mom got Sephora brand eyeliner & Clinique repairwear laser focus.

I love what I got: the face cleanser travel size & the facial radiance pads to use after you wash. I was going to get a few charcoal 1x use masks, but last minute saw a clay one that looked good also by First Aid Beauty called “skin rescue” which will get about 20 uses for same cost.

We did a bit more shopping, had lunch at Panera and headed to our spa appointments at The Spa at River Ridge. My mom had never had a massage and I really wanted a facial, and when looked around the Columbus area there weren’t a lot of options. This place had great reviews and I was so surprised by how HUGE it was. They literally do everything ‘beauty’ you can think of there and use top-notch brands.

They did something I haven’t had in a massage- put my hands in masks, wrapped them, then had me cup a hot stone while resting my arms. It left my hands so soft since it stayed like that at least half and hour.

I had the signature facial ($83) which is different for everyone, so you may not have the same one. They used products with Vitamin A which made my face look great after. My mom had the Hydrafacial ($175), which I’ve had before in Maui and LOVED.

“Improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation, congested pores and uneven skin tone with the Hollywood approved HydraFacial! This resurfacing procedure provides cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, and hydration, infusing your skin with antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid to deliver immediate results with no discomfort or downtime.”

I found out after the fact that they do balayage which is where you paint your hair with highlights rather than use foils, or I would have gotten it done there.

We had dinner at Mezzo in Historic Dublin. I hadn’t heard of it before even though I went to college nearby in Columbus, but I have never really explored Dublin as much as now.

mother daughter day in dublin ohioFor dinner we had split a wedge salad topped with gorganzola and candied bacon (omg, candied bacon!!), braised meatballs with ricotta and balsamic, then for our mains we had a thin crust carne pizza loaded with sausage and pepperoni, and the hanger steak with garlic butter and smoked gouda macaroni and cheese. If you haven’t had hanger steak, try it immediately! I hadn’t even heard of it, but they said it’s above the flank and it used to be called the ‘Butcher’s Cut” because the butcher always kept the best cut for himself.

It’s a cute little town and my mom is taking my dad back to try it asap! There’s an outdoor patio and the restaurant on the corner would be a great place for drinks.

Overall, it was the perfect mother daughter day in Dublin and we had kick-ass skin the next day! What would you do on a mother daughter day?

This post was in collaboration with the Dublin tourism board. We were invited to lunch by Mezzo, but it was insanely good and all opinions are always my own.
