Before I moved to India, I was so obsessed with perfumes and makeup that I become a “VIB” member at Sephora. That means very important beauty and you have to spent 1,000 usd to get in- which is insane. So, yeah I loved it! I usually went with sample packs they would do once a year so that I could try new fragrances and give away the ones I didn’t like to friends.

At the end of the post, there’s a giveaway.

Pinrose Perfume Review

When the popular brand Pinrose (who’s been in W Mag, NY Times, and InStyle) asked me to review their travel size perfumes, I jumped at the chance. They are luxury fragrance brand from San Francisco. I’m always telling you guys in my packing posts that taking mini-perfumes and mini-OPI polishes is the best way to go so you can still have options while you travel.

The cutest bit of Pinrose is the quiz you take that shows photos, shapes, and even music to find out what scents fit your style and personality. It takes into account scents you like, brands you worn in the past and even your age to give you your two closest scents. The two women in charge are scent psychologists. I got cuddle punk & ballroom philosopher. Rose and No Doubt!? Yup!

“Erika Shumate and Christine Luby founded the company with the vision to make high quality fragrance a playful, effortless, everyday experience for the modern millennial.”

luxury perfume for travel, pinrose reviewYou can jump the gun and buy the scents they recommend, or you can go for a mixture sample of each of the 13 scents ($9). Do note that right now they ship only to the USA. If you’re a lover of online shopping, I don’t see any other way to buy perfume than like this! It’s so fun and clever. Once you’ve tried the sample/travel size petal packs (which go on like a wet wipe) you can choose which full size one you’d like to buy. Actually, the whole concept is similar to the shop I bought my glasses from. More companies should do this.

The petal packs are one time use wipes that you toss. I love this for traveling, because as you use them up your bag gets more space in it, whereas when you use up a bottle as you go- obviously the bottle will take up the same amount of space even when almost empty. You can mix and match the petals to make your own “petal pack” (25 for $24).

The second, Ballroom Philosopher, has peony, mandarin, and creamy sandalwood. I love this scent! It might be the one I choose to buy the full size version of.

I recommend trying them first. I know to some, $50 for a bottle of perfume is high, but I’ve always spent a chunk of cash on my perfumes like my favorite, Burberry Brit, so it’s something I’m happy to splurge on. I’d been using the same scent for so long, I’m happy to have some more options. Now, just to figure out which one to buy!luxury perfume for travel, pinrose review
